The Big Start complements all university curricula
The Big Start is a student entrepreneur competition open to all final year undergraduate and postgraduate university students in the UAE who are under 30 years of age. The competition is designed to take students through a real life experience of an entrepreneur, from the birth of their business idea to writing a business plan and presenting it to an investor, with the ultimate prize of seeing the business come to life. The competition is the first one of its kind in the UAE to actively guide, mentor and facilitate the development of each entrant’s business plan, and to fully fund the winner’s idea to bring it to reality. Now in its fourth season, The Big Start opened for online registrations on 17th February and will close on 7th April 2012.
The winner will receive full funding and support from
Al Tamimi Investments
ATI accepts and evaluates business ideas submitted during the initial stage of the competition and selects up to 25 student entries to progress to the second round. Here, students will be mentored to develop their business ideas into business plans through a series of workshops and one-on-one sessions, lecture series and programs that this year will empower a fantastic interaction opportunity to be mentored by high profile entrepreneurs, industry consultants and CEOs.
Our mission is to strengthen and nurture business ideas in the UAE
We are a serious platform for the active development of young entrepreneurs in the UAE. The Big Start is not only a competition, but an educational experience that helps students see their ideas being brought to fruition. Our mission is to address the real need for entrepreneurship in the UAE, as highlighted in Dubai’s Strategic Plan 2015 and Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030, by offering practical support, mentoring and financial investment. We are all inclusive in our approach to the nurturing of entrepreneurial talent and open our competition to all final year students, undergraduate or postgraduate, of all nationalities, studying in the UAE, under the age of 30. We are huge advocates of diversity, and the more faculties and disciplines that go through the programme, the better. The only restriction is that the student is in their final year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the UAE and under 30 years of age.
