How to Become an Entrepreneur
Voted as the one of the top business hubs in the world, Dubai calls for a change of work habits. Take a step towards self-improvement while keeping up with the city’s fast-paced economy using these five useful tips.
- Enjoy what you do
In today’s world of competitiveness, it is important to feel passionate about your job and to fully commit it. A few wise words are to stay optimistic, believe in yourself and love what you do and you will thrive at anything you put your head to.
- Continue learning
To succeed, one must never stop learning. Pick up a book, research something online, learn from your superiors or even enrol in courses to further your education as knowledge is the key to a prosperous career path.
- Work on problem areas
Many people talk about their strengths and achievements but avoid to mention their problems. A vital point in overcoming your weaknesses is to recognise your areas of improvement by asking for assistance from colleagues, friends or family members.
- Take calculated risks
Don’t spend your time thinking about failure as life is too short and one day you may regret not taking a chance on something you feel very passionate about. Nevertheless, this does not imply that you take any sort of risks but rather calculate their potential success rate.
- Value your team’s input
It is important to recognise your team’s contribution as this has surely helped lead to your success. Pat your colleagues on the back and let them know that their hard work is highly appreciated. A company outing is always a good way to reward the department.
A Brief Insight on Season 4 of The Big Start
Designed for serious students who wish to make a name for themselves, The Big Start is a great resource that provides out of the book knowledge and pragmatic intelligence. It is integral to note that every stage of the competition offers distinct and careful insight in to the fascinating world of business.
The Big Start has transformed from merely a competition to a boot camp for potential entrepreneurs with Ahmad Tarabishi, Yacine Daoud and Nikhil Pradhan as the final contenders. Passing on their knowledge to the rather inexperienced minds of the participants, The Big Start Team offers profound guidance and support to assist contestants by fine tuning their ideas in to realistic and achievable dreams.
“As a finalist, The Big Start helped convert my start-up from a website to a full rounded web-service which enabled me to focus my thoughts and pursue my idea in a calculated and organised manner”, states Nikhil. Through periodic and amplified motivation along with valuable industry know-how, The Big Start offers great insight to help finalists during the primary stages of their business. Nikhil adds, “It is mainly because of this stimulus that I have been able to further develop my start-up”. Now in its fourth season, The Big Start is happy to bring young entrepreneurs’ ideas to life.
Our season 3 winner is all-set to launch SENSE before the year ends
It’s no surprise that nature has a positive influence on our overall health. And it’s this very notion that inspired Aditi Sen, 27, to introduce Animal Assisted Therapy to Dubai, the first concept of its kind in the region.
It has been proven that spending time amidst nature and animals reduces stress, decreases mental fatigue, restores mental clarity and boosts stamina. SENSE uses this idea to create therapeutic wellness programs that encourage the human-animal bond to instill health, hope and happiness in both children and adults.
SENSE combines this unique rehabilitative technique with traditional treatments such as counseling, speech therapy, physiotherapy or occupational therapy – all provided by a licensed therapist – to help in the treatment of a wide range of disabilities.
With a mission to make a difference, Aditi is almost ready to launch her new social enterprise that celebrates dignity and worth of all living things.
SENSE will be initially based at Al Tamimi Stables in Sharjah. The lush 30-acre farm, is away from the hustle and bustle of city life, making it the ideal backdrop for rejuvenation and relaxation.
From all of us at The Big Start team – good luck Aditi!
